Hello Ladies, I'm New to this forum and hopefully looking for some reassurance.
I am  55 yrs old and am post menopausal.  I have now been on HRT for 2 yrs. Just under 2 weeks ago I started to get really painful breasts, feeling  very full like when you are about to have a period. I decided to reduce my 1 pump a day of oestrogel to half a pump.i continued to take 100mg capsule of utrogestan a night. I then went away for 3 days and decided not to use the oestrogel but continue to take the capsule. After a couple of days start sporting. A little brownish discharge after wiping. I go back to using the full pump of oestrogel but continue to have spotting. It has got heavier and last night looked like a proper period. I made an appointment with the doctor this morning and he has said he will put an urgent referral in on the cancer pathway to be seen in 2 to 4 weeks. My question is could it be related to the HRT doses missed even though my prescription is relatively low ?
I'm sure the NICE guidance is that bleeding within the first 6 months of HRT can be normal. After that and in post menopausal women,  it should be checked. I'm sure your doctor is only following protocol and making sure there's nothing to worry about. The cancer pathway seems the routine thing now until they know everything is fine. I've been referred for scans after spotting.  I would trust your doctor.  It's better they're overcautious than apathetic

Sounds like an "anal fissure". I very very occasionally get then if I have been constipated and pass a very hard, dry stool (or piece of coal and I describe it!!!). Very scary to see blood on tissue and/or in toilet pan but normally clears up in a day or so. I put a dab of germolene or something similar which is a bit greasy but clears it up.

Glad you got it checked out.

Yes not of it cheap  ::) I usually buy in lots of 3 from Amazon which makes it a bit cheaper. Hope things settle.

That's why I go to Newson, the doctor there writes a letter to my GP and tells her what to prescribe and then she's very happy to prescribe me 11 pumps or whatever. She won't prescribe T though, I have to get that from Newson.

I also have dry skin although it's a lot better since using Dove shower gel, and there is research to show that dehydrated skin absorbs less well. I've also tried patches though and I wasn't getting very high on those (which is why I switched to gel a year ago).

If you have night sweats still you defo need more estrogen, that's a very clear symptom.

I do 5 pumps in the AM and 6 in the PM at the moment. I put either 4 or 5 around one thigh and then one on a butt cheek. Mornings I do left thigh and left butt cheek and evenings all the right side. Each pump is supposed to be spread over an A5 area roughly and I can see where it is on my skin, you can easily get all those pumps on a thigh if you are pretty flexible and can do the back as well. It does take a while to dry on me though, in the mornings I come downstairs and make breakfast in my t shirt and knickers because my gel is drying - and at night I have to lie on my side in bed with one leg out, waiting for it all to dry before I can sleep  ::)

Hi Penguin mine starts just south of the anal opening and is 1-2 cm. Did u ever get yours checked by a GP. Problem I have is that by the time I’m going to see GP it will have gone. As I know bleeding is from the external cut and not from inside rectum I’m thinking it’s nothing to stress over.
But I do suffer from HA.

Absolutely most likely 2B related to the ups and downs of your regime.  Your GP is wrong to suggest the 'cancer' pathway ...... a 2 week pathway may take 3-4 weeks to don't worry!  These scans etc. will give you a base line from which to work.

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use.  Also take a list of any concerns to the appt.

:welcomemm:   Let us know how you get on.  Why did U begin HRT initially, has the treatment ease those feelings?

Thanks Joziel, I am going back to see the menopause specialist who I saw originally but it got so expensive and at my Gp surgery a new GP came on board with a special interest in Menopause, which is probably why she is reluctant to go higher doses. I recall that specialist saying we need you to creep up to 500 at least. I have very dry skin and think maybe this is why the gel gets soaked up in the outer skin rather than soaking into it, if that makes sense! Ive just had a realisation, I split my dosage 2 x am and 2 at pm. but as I have night sweats I could be sweating it all back out again, I will try doing all four in the mornings and see how that goes. How on earth do you place 5 pumps in one go! each limb and then where?

Aside from supplements have you tried either sleep hypnosis (Michael sealey on YouTube is good and he does some that are 4 hours plus long so carry on while you're asleep amd may help you get into a deeper level of sleep) or those alpha waves (or similar) that you can play through earbuds that impact your brain waves positively. Binaural beats, something like that? Not sure if it is designed for deep sleep but maybe worth a look.
