Larky I used to know that track off by heart!!! Sang it full gusto when I attended one of his concerts after it came out.  Magical!

This is one of my favourites just now.

Didn't mean to upset you Larky.  It was just a flippant remark  -  we normally have a good sense of humour on here. Sorry if it hit a nerve. I have removed it now.

It was true though about me not being able to stand the sound of violins. The agitation is horrible.

Taz what you talk about is recognized syndrome, its like some peoples reaction to a finger scraping on the blackboard. I know as I have a similar reaction to seeing people hurt eg falling and grazing their knees, the sight of blood or wounds, and watching any type of violence, I have to look away. The feeling I get is physical and it shoots through my body like the scraping on the blackboard feeling. Your reaction to the sound of the violin could well be the same.

Nurses and some doctors have sometimes asked me if I am a nurse, and I have said no and they have replied well you should be, then I have said no way and and explained these feelings.

I was going to post about it to explain to Larky. I know in no way you meant to make discriminating remarks, and it was said in great humour, don't thing you should have removed your posts.

Heres is a link  http://www.livescience.com/1628-study-people-literally-feel-pain.html  I have just learnt something I did not know and that is is that it is part of Synesthesia, that I have. Glad I looked for a link because now I know why I feel these sensations.

I have had another think about this and, in retrospect, I don't feel that I did anything wrong in saying that violin music brings tears to my eyes - it does! On other threads we speak our mind, we give advice and give our opinions on things and I don't see why a music thread would be any different. If I posted a track which wasn't to everybody's tastes then I wouldn't be hurt if someone actually said that. As has been said our tastes are varied and wide and not everything appeals to all of us. I don't think this should stop us actually giving an opinion. When I began the thread it was a way of finding new music and for sharing what we like and, sometimes, it is right that we say why we do or don't like it.

I don't want to cause more upset but I feel strongly we should be able to express our opinions on all of the threads on here.

As long as we all respect each others veiws and tastes, not everyone likes the same thing, and its ok to to say its not to your taste, but sometimes an off the cuff remark can hurt someone elses feelings, unintentionally of course.
Surely we can move on from this now  :)

Sorry i missed this off topic tangent, nobody intentionally upsets anyone, surely we can say if we like or dislike a sample of music, it's not a reflection on the poster. I do agree with Taz, i find violins grate on my nerves, but tbh that's my lack of appreciation. Let's have some good sounds from everyone, it's summer after all i feel like some new sounds.
Did anyone here the wee boy on BGT on Saturday night?

Mines  for today.....http://youtu.be/k-ImCpNqbJw

Here is mine for today.  Reminds me of when hubby & I moved to Inverness.  Song came out around the time he was travelling north on a Sunday night & home on a Friday, before we actually moved at the beginning of May.  It snowed on the way too.  Much nicer weather this year.

I was listening to it on my ipod last night.  Always brings a tear to my eye.  How sad am I?  It was just such an appropriate song at that time.
