Taz what you talk about is recognized syndrome, its like some peoples reaction to a finger scraping on the blackboard. I know as I have a similar reaction to seeing people hurt eg falling and grazing their knees, the sight of blood or wounds, and watching any type of violence, I have to look away. The feeling I get is physical and it shoots through my body like the scraping on the blackboard feeling. Your reaction to the sound of the violin could well be the same.
Nurses and some doctors have sometimes asked me if I am a nurse, and I have said no and they have replied well you should be, then I have said no way and and explained these feelings.
I was going to post about it to explain to Larky. I know in no way you meant to make discriminating remarks, and it was said in great humour, don't thing you should have removed your posts.

http://www.livescience.com/1628-study-people-literally-feel-pain.html I have just learnt something I did not know and that is is that it is part of Synesthesia, that I have. Glad I looked for a link because now I know why I feel these sensations.
