However: as well as a large box of bubble bath etc., I was given a black brooch with a Russian troika scene . Years ago I had considered collecting this type of folk art work, mainly the boxes but logically a) we have stuff already standing around so b) where would I display them

Ukraine also produce similar folk art but without knowing the signatures ........... unless items are clearly marked, it's impossible to tell and with the Eastern European languages, there may well be cross over in the techniques.
