Can anyone recommend a decent carpet washer?

I have a Vax spot washer, but with my dodgy knee, kneeling to use it is tricky.

I've got to that stage in life where I sometimes decide it's better to pay someone to do the work instead of investing in the equipment to do it

VAX do an upright but the water tank makes it heavy to push/shove.  For the cost of a machine and the effort, mayB pay for some1 to do it.  We went Karndeen wood effect through the ground floor to save on all that effort.

I can't help for a home one but I've hired a Rug Doctor from my local coop before which is allegedly a professional one.

Would a lightweight floor steam cleaner be an option ?
I think some have a plastic attachment for carpets.  I've got a lightweight steam mop for the kitchen.

I may hire one, for now,  and then give myself sometime to ponder a purchase.  I am prone to impulse buying but really need to research this.
