Topical Oestrogen for VA
« on: November 25, 2025, 06:19:27 AM »

Hi Can I check if there is a cream/gel like blissel which contains oestradiol not estriol? I know the former is stronger but I'm sure there isnt yet my friend has been advised there is for loss of sensation. Thanks

I don't think there is a commercial vaginal estradiol cream available in the UK.

However if the issue is blissel is too weak, there are several 0.1% estriol creams which are ten times more potent than blissel's 0.01%.

If there is an important reason why it has to be estradiol not estriol, and I cannot think of one, but I'd there is she could look into getting it from a compounding pharmacy if she can get a prescription.

Alternatively there are estradiol pessaries, prasterone pessaries, or systemic estrogen (and testosterone) which deliver hormones to the genital area via the bloodstream and also treat the whole body.

Anecdotally some women also use topical testosterone on the genitalia for improving sensation but this is entirely unstudied.

There is estradiol gel designed for systemic use however I have never heard of anyone applying this to the genital area due to the availability of suitable products intended for this use.
