Glucose Monitoring
« on: November 22, 2025, 01:19:06 PM »

Hi ladies

I am 50 years old and on HRT. I recently had full bloods done at my doctors and have been advised I need to see the nurse for Glucose Monitoring and lifestyle choices.

This has obviously come about due to one of the results. Is this happened to anyone else? Is it just literally a precaution to monitor my glucose levels so they stay within range?.

The receptionist at the GP said it was nothing to be concerned about and that I would have yearly bloods done.

I am obviously concerned and have been feeling very lightheaded recently but my appetite hasn't been the best due to menopause anxiety/mental health.

I do have an appointment with Gp on Monday and will ask then but just wondered if anyone had been in the same situation. I do fall in a high risk group foe diabetes due to my ethnicity.

It is good to get checked but unlikely to be anything serious or else you would have been asked to see the GP for treatment, not the nurse for monitoring and lifestyle.

A few months ago I got an unsolicited text message from my GP surgery telling me that I had been identified as being at high risk of cardiovascular disease and to make a screening appointment.

Whilst I could see the funny side, confident that the cardiac cath lab probably wasn't teeming with 45 year old female non smoking para athletes with a clean diet and old parents, I got home to find my poor husband practically booking his funeral having received the same text message.

Gp confirmed the range for being diabetic is 42-48.
My blood result showed I am 42 so pre diabetic.
I think becoming pre diabetic is common in peri/meno as the declining hormones can affect blood sugar.
Have appointment with nurse in 2 weeks for a lifestyle chat and ways to decrease my risk. I usually eat quite healthy, but will cut obvious things out like surgery drinks. I don't eat a great deal of cakes or sweet things either, but apparently lots of hidden sugars in many food.
