Thickening of lining of womb
« on: November 15, 2025, 07:06:06 PM »

Had a scan as had some bleeding when I switched to Nalvee, this stopped when I finished the 14 days.   Doctor rang me and said had thickened lining of womb and scaried me, gynea appointment in 2 weeks.  Scan showed a polop which I've had for ages and checked several times (they didn't seem to know this)

Just started month 2 of nalvee and on day 2 of 14.  taking it in the morning and felt ok but anxious by mid afternoon.  Would taking another one chill me out? It does say on the packet 2 a day for bleeding or PMT?

On 100 Everol patch.

Any reassurance welcome please 🙏

It sounds like you are on sequential HRT, and can therefore expect a plumper, juicer endometrium than the postmenopausal cut off of 4mm, which was derived from untreated women with shriveled, atrophic everything!

There is a lot of inappropriate investigation of women in this setting due to outdated guidelines and lack of education of clinicians.

I would not take the progestin with the hope that it will directly and immediately improve your psychological state - it is indicated only for endometrial control.

However taking it over the long term should give you peace of mind in as far as preventing endometrial hyperplasia.

Additionally dydrogesterone (nalvee) is one of the kindest progestins, free from some of the negative effects on mood that others such as micronised progesterone or norethisterone can induce.

Thank you, just feel terrible since I started taking it.  I don't seem to get on with any progesterone/progestin I think I've tried them all.  I wondered if cyclogest vaginal would help?

My lining is 13mm

That's acceptable for someone still menstruating in their luteal phase.

Cyclogest is basically just micronised progesterone but if you haven't tried it vaginally already it is worth a go.

There is also tibolone which can be a great option for progesterone intolerant women - you would have to say you are postmenopausal to get this on the NHS though.
