Missed Day 1 of Progesterone tablets
« on: November 15, 2025, 12:49:17 PM »

Hello,
I'm looking for some advice about progesterone. I'm on my 2nd month of cyclical HRT for early menopause, and forgot to take my day 15 progesterone tablets last night. If I take the first tablets tonight (day 16) should I carry on taking them for days 16 - 27 or stop on day 26? And if I take the tablets days 16 - 27 should I continue this way in the following month, with progesterone on days 16 - 27 or revert to the original pattern of days 15 - 26? Hope this makes sense!
I'm currently setting alarms in my calendar so I can (hopefully) avoid missing any other doses in the future!
Thanks in advance for any advice x

You are massively overthinking it.

Just forget about it and take the rest of the course as planned.

If you are still having natural menstrual cycles you will bleed when you bleed, this won't be affected by a mistimed progesterone dose.

Hi LiliRose
I wouldn't worry too much about it, missing one day isn't so bad. If I was you I would just take my progesterone from day 16 to 26 this time and then revert to your original schedule next month/cycle and start on day 15 to 26 again

Just be mindful that unless you currently have a cycle that is more or less the same every month, then waiting until day 15 or 16 after your day 1 of period may not work out.  If you start the utrogestan today, then you could take it on the same date next month and continue with that pattern, regardless of day 1 of your bleed.  Alternatively take it today for 2 weeks, then take 2 weeks off and so on.  If your cycles are within 28/30 days you are ok to start on day 1 of a bleed but cycles may well change in time and you could suddenly realise you haven't had a bleed in a couple of months and you won't have taken the utrogestan.
