Imvaggis and systemic HRT
« on: October 23, 2025, 07:36:22 PM »

I am oestrogel and progesterone and Intrarosa. I would like change my Intrarosa to Imvaggis and have sent a request to my G.P
I believe Imvaggis is contraindicated with systemic HRT because there are no clinical safety trials. I'm not in the least bit concerned about this but my G.P may not want to prescibe it.
Does any one have any experience of obtaining a prescription for both on the NHS?

I was on vagifem for over 10 years prescribed by the GP. 2 years ago I went onto Estradot and Utrogestan with a private prescription (I was 68 so didn't consider trying the GP) this was for flushes/nightsweats. A few months after this the VA flared up, a reload of Vagifem didn't touch it, and the meno specialist thought the tablet wasn't melting and put me on Imvaggis which I paid for. It took a while but the Imvaggis was effective so at my next GP review I asked if the Vagifem could be replaced by Imvaggis but was turned down as it was off licence so I continued to  pay for it privately. Forward a year to my next review and a lovely GP agreed straight away (she did know my specialist) and then asked me to spell it! Unfortunately this GP was retiring 3 weeks later so my delight at finding a lovely GP was short lived. :(

So, in summary I am on systemic HRT privately and Imvaggis (x3 a week) on the NHS.
