Has anyone been diagnosed with a deep inguinal hernia? What were your symptoms and did you have surgery?

Morning.  Has this been diagnosed and what does the surgeon recommend?

Morning CLKD, yes it has been diagnosed but not seen the surgeon yet have been referred but I was thinking although very very uncomfortable and sometimes painful I might do watch and wait? No notable lump on the outside.  Originally saw the gp as I could feel that I had a lump on the inside low abdominal groin area that was moving towards my hip and side area.  It feels very strange!!! The Gp could feel a large palpable mass and originally felt there was something more sinister going on with my ovary however within days had ultrasounds (4) and blood tests which ruled that out! Ultrasound wasn’t very good at identifying it tho! But was good at showing ovaries and uterus all ok. Gp and ladies doing the scans report it to be deep but it’s extremely uncomfortable especially around a large area on the right side when sitting or when iv been very active. I find that I’m actually holding that area at times! Once iv had a sleep it all seems to be ok again for a while but I have to sleep on my back (I’m a side sleeper which doesn’t help)

It was also reassuring to know that my endometrial lining was nice and thin with all the faffing around I’m doing with progesterone 🤪

It does depend on where the hernia is sited and what might have caused the 'bulge'.  MayB get onto a waiting list as they may be months for surgical intervention, with the option of cancelling closer to the time?

I’m due to be seen before the 25th November and will make a decision on what to do next then I suppose. I just wondered what other ladies may have done going forward as these things don’t get better on their own but I’m not too keen on being fiddled about with for the time being (although its extremely uncomfortable at times).  I was hoping maybe someone had a few non surgical ideas like very supportive knickers (as it’s right side groin) for example lol or been through a similar experience???

Take a list of concerns with you to the Appt and discuss.  Including alternatives to surgical intervention.

I think a lot depends on how much symptoms are interfering with daily Life, what someone's activity level might be, whether they R in employment where a hernia may interfere with their job .............
