Confused by my own body!
« on: October 08, 2025, 08:04:52 PM »

I’ve been using vaginal oestrogen for a few years now and initially everything went well. A few months ago everything seemed to change. I thought I needed to recharge with Vagifem because I was getting a vaginal discharge quite badly and every day. GP suggested I try Ovestin so I tried that as a recharge and things appeared better…….for a while. Then it started to make me very sore so I stopped it and went back to Vagifem.
I’m now in a situation where I’m only using Vagifem about once a week and everytime I do I get discharge again but a few days in it lessens again.
I know VA doesn’t go away. So why does it seem that suddenly using a lot less is better for me?
Any pearls of wisdom please?

Assuming other causes of discharge have been ruled out such as infection or thrush, and there is no discomfort, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Changing levels of estrogen can alter both natural secretions and the vaginal microbiome and typically settles with consistent use.

If you are only using it once weekly this is more like repeatedly starting it from scratch rather than doing a loading course followed by regular maintenance.

A very hypoestrogenic mucosa actually absorbs more, like parched earth, than a healthy mucosa.

Additionally some of it could be residue from the pessary.

Morning.  What  colour is the 'discharge' and is it smelly?

What goes up has to come down ;-).  I get this when I am doing a reload of ovestin/estriol .  When do U insert the Vagifem, once a week probably isn't often enough.
