Breast tenderness
« on: Today at 12:07:08 PM »

Hi everyone,
I have been using Evorel Conti patches (lowest does of oestrogen) for 7 months. For the first few weeks I had breast tenderness but then it went away. Last month it came back with a vengeance! I don’t really understand why? I’m not sure I will be able to tolerate it if it goes on for much longer which is such a shame because I feel great otherwise.
Any ideas? X

Hi Lisai,

For me breast tenderness (and large swollen breasts) were a sign of too much oestrogen when I was on HRT. When I reduced my dose it improved.

If you are on a very low dose it could be your own hormones fluctuating so you have a peak of your own oestrogen as well as your HRT.

Do you take evening primrose tablets? The breast nurse recommended them to me for tender/sore breasts.

Hope this helps x

I agree with Dotty, your hormones will still be fluctuating, and possibly your ovaries have decided to give a push of oestrogen, meaning you may need to lower your already low dose. I thought I’d finished with peri but out of the blue my ovaries decided to give one final push and blimey I had VERY sore tender breasts. So I’m pretty sure you’ve nothing to worry about  :)
