Your oestrogen levels will fluctuate according to your own cycle and if you can't tell where you are in the cycle or you can't test at the same point in cycle the results can be pretty meaningless and it's better to go on symptoms. And stress, grief and withdrawal symptoms muddy the waters too as you may be unable to tell which is causing your symptoms. I think you're doing the right thing leaving the patch the same for now, you can revisit it if you need to when the other issues have subsided. In the meantime put yourself first and try to take it easy. I hope you feel better soon  :bighug:

Hello Vicky81.

I think leaving your patch as it is would be a good idea, at least you will have some stability from the same dose and if your night sweats are controlled your sleep should be better.

I completely sympathise with the frustration of it all. I am post meno and taking a break from HRT, so far I have noticed physical changes that I can deal with but the emotional stuff is still a work in progress unfortunately.

I hope you feel better soon and sending hugs.

Take care.

K.

hi, I am new here but i believe that in peri you cannot really rely on estrogen levels as it can goes from 71.6 till 1309 pmol/L depending in what stage of the cycle you are.. not sure if it helps.. sorry ;-)
Thank you so very much xxxx

Not sure if it helps but I get anger mid-cycle (post meno but I log the 28 day cycle) for 2 days. I also used to feel it around ovulation but not at the end of the cycle. Not sure if it’s from high oestrogen or falling oestrogen but feel much better after it passes. I never used to get PMT like most women but it feels like that sounded like!
Thanks my honey xxxx

Just to be clear if you are on the combined pill as well and taking this reliably (which is most unusual and not advised in addition to menopause hormone therapy) then you will not be having an ovulatory cycle of your own.

The withdrawal bleeds that the standard 21/28 day combined pill regimen results in are completely artificial, this is not menstruation and confers no health benefits - it was simply built in for paternalistic reasons so that women wouldn't think they were pregnant.

If you are on a combined pill with ethinylestradiol, this is not picked up by plasma estradiol tests but is MUCH more potent than than the estradiol in the patch.

The concurrent use of the combined pill makes it impossible to interpret or advise based on your blood tests because goodness knows what your overall exposure is, including both the synthetic and the body identical.

I know this has been prescribed for you by your own clinician but it really does deviate significantly from even what the most liberal menopause specialists would consider safe practice.

To add - no night sweats unless I cur this one down slightly.. but it's my terrible anxiety and crying and anger
Do women have bigger fluctuations in peri ? And a the years go on do they get bigger?
I've also got very bad fatigue which is stopping me going out and doing chores ... had every test and head scan....nothing

The NHS thinks 250-300 is reasonable but many private practitioners like to see 400. As above, levels are more useful post meno as you can get huge fluctuations in peri but if you have symptoms you can ask to increase. Just be aware that it's unusual for the NHS to prescribe more than 100mcg so you may have to private if your levels drop further. What time of your cycle did you test?
Hi Sheila my last resukt was 291 I think I've been in peri since 2021.....do fluctuations get higher or worse alas the years go along?
I'm unsure wether to move up slightly....if I snip down from 95 I get sweats.....what woukd vlbe the next step up to see how I go? 125mg? I'm really struggling with physical anxiety, terrible anger and fatigue. This hsbt to do with loss of partner this started before.
Shoukd I ask GP...there is one trained in menopause at my practice .....shoukd I at least try  suffering Sheila's feels like it did when I first got peri

Inam at work now feeling so awful. Lightheadedd, dizzy, been crying in loo. but like i sid i got ll this when my withdrawl first statred, lots of znger, cryimg hard. its all noted to be symptoms of withdrwwal from antodepressamt  - sorry 4 typos i, just stressed.

most morngs im punchin the bed sheets, radiators anything really - they say these are noted anger spells - but this is why i reached to you guys - you dont think its my patch? Not too low or anythig causing this iim in turmpoil here. then im cryimg.

Good days - fRIDAY NO FATIGU TIL THE AFTERNOON, MOOD GOOD, LAST SUNDAY MOOD GOOD, THEN A WEEK LAST MONDAY I HAD TO HAVE A STAGE 3 MEETIMG WITH HR ABOUT KEEPING MY JOB - I WAS LAUGHING/JOKING/ VERY BUBBLY.
Do you honestly think i should stay on same level patch - and this is all withdrawal? Cos i had all this when withdrawl first started in Dec. I started to stbilise in March then i tried B12 tablets, i wasnt that low but i was told on american site with B12 you have o in low and i didnt - i had all the same horrid side effects i m getting now but this is nore severe!! Prob because its injections (5) more potent. all Drs hae told me you now ned ptience for the numbers to come down. Its so hard as i mostly feel terrible every day. Please ladies be kind nd reply  - i have even lied and said i have to go at 12.30 to sign a package - cos need to go home. My clinical friend that works in Broadmoor has knowledge of withdrawal nd said it ceffo is the injectiuons  - all drs agreeed. but you now have to wait for the high numbers to come down as i was so high for  perrson in withdawal/
.
I hope you wil email me ladies  as all i want o do is cy, im shaky, spacy eyes, horrible.
Thanks, Vicky xxxx ps - i wasnt like this before the jabs, still had withdrawal but not like this.

If flushes are a meno symptom for you and they're controlled by your current dose it's a pretty good indication that the dose is right (though it isn't 100% guaranteed). You have so much other stuff going on at the moment I really think it would be a mistake to add symptoms of too much oestrogen into the mix now. Too much can give you anxiety, particularly jittery anxiety, which would be best avoided. Perhaps talking therapy might give you ways to cope when it all gets too much? Apart from what the withdrawal is doing to you grief can can turn you into an emotional wreck too and for that I think only time will heal it. I'm so sorry you're going through this and that I can't be of more help.

You sound very unstable, both emotionally and physically (which is totally understandable given what you are going through)

Now that you’ve hit S3 with work, do you think a period of sick leave would help? You are also getting into a pickle with your HRT, so maybe you need to reset?

Taking therapy might help?

Take care x

Sheila i have replied on a private message to see what you think - I am getting the eaxct thingsd!!!! Jittery anxiety - terrible, feel bit light headed also. im thinking of cuttimg a very small slither off the patch when i get home, i think it may be too high. No anger this morning so it cant be too low.....I just feel spacy too. I think il cut it down, if no noght sweats - i guess thats the MG for me? I may even need to cut further, lets see. but i agree with you - please do reply as id love to hear your thoughts.
