Anxiety

Ladies.  General question to you all

Can I just ask what symptoms you all get when you get anxiety and panic attacks.

Just interested to see if we all suffer the same symptoms  or are we all different.

I am anxious all the time like on edge and feel nervous and shaky my legs feel wobbly.  I class’s this as anxiety

but then I get total panic where I am scared to even have a bath or go outside as I think I am going to collapse, I cry and over breath  and get in a right state then  when I do calm down  I feel worn out.   I could be fine one minute and then it just hits me out of the blue.  Is this a panic attack .

The only time I don’t panic or feel anxious is when I am in bed and reading or watching Tv this is the only time I sort of feel a bit more relaxed. But as soon as my eyes are open in the morning it starts all over again.

I have noticed that the panic attacks if this is what they are are getting more frequent.

Just want to reassure myself that this is all part of post menopause .

I honestly can say my anxiety along with panic attacks started in my early to mid 50's.  Till then I would say I was ok....yes get worked up and stressed but nothing like what followed.  It was also around this time I was battling with recurrent UTI.s for months and frequency constant burning and soreness - before VA was finally diagnosed

Trying to seperate them in difficult because I feel mine were totally entwined.  I would class the state of nervousness. restlessness and feeling on edge as anxiety.

Mine came with altered fast breathing and bagging in my chest.  I spent ages believing this was a heart attack!!.  There was also something that I referred to as a "fear of dread" which would wash over me - quiet suddenly.  I would be scared  - but unlike you, my bedroom I dreaded because some nights I would wake with a night terror, suddenly on waking you are terrified.  Standing outside and breathing or pacing would help.  I still get panic attacks - but not so much the terryifying night ones.  Plus I still rush outside to breath fresh air and then it settles.

Before all this my late Mum used to say I could fall asleep on a washing line.

Not now my 8 hours sleep went years ago.   You are certainly not alone - I am sure so many on here have a degree of understanding and I hope that will reassure you.

Can honestly say it came with menopause and some has certainly stayed with me post menopause.

Take care

My 1st panic attack was aged 3  :'( and I've suffered intermittently since.

It starts with a surge of nausea immediately followed by my thighs going weak followed by my calves, then I hit the floor.  I can B absolutely fine then WHAM!  It may B related to not eating properly, if I miss a few days of 'meals' with veg it can hit !
