Thunder flys.  Come out during harvest time.  For something so tiny they must have heavy boots 'cos they make the skin itch.

Am sitting at dusk watching the tall evening primrose flowers slowly opening.  Last night after dark there were a lot of large moths but unable to see them.

Frogs moving from the water, I will be feeding meal worms as they hop across the patio.  Non of this year's are about, most are 2 years old+

Do you know why I've hardly any birds on the feeders ? I'm usually filling them every day but lately it's every two or three days, only the occasional magpie or pigeon having a drink from the water I put out

The RSPB addressed this question, only the other day in their newsletter.

My garden is quieter at the moment, as I've been away for over a week. They're starting to drift back but not in the previous numbers I had.

;D They are aren't they? Saved me some money though - like you, they don't half get through the food normally. With all the juveniles around, they were getting through a tube of sunflower hearts a day! I do miss them when they're not around though and wonder if they are OK.

Today we had a wren, obviously having had a bath next door.  They go away to rest and recuperate, moult and hide from the kids  ;D

I've stopped feeding live meal worms too 'cos nowt was taking them  ::)

We've been watching a young dunnock without a tail having a bath in the gentle over flow of the waterfall  8).  11 mins then out for a shake and a preen  :-*

At this time year we start to see the geese flying over - what a racket they make at 7 ish this morning.

Always seem to be a few stragglers flying behind.

It's a natural racket rather than mowing noises and That Man who constantly cleans his cars close by  :o

A few blue tits are on the pea nut feeders, hopefully the rats don't congregate underneath  >:(

We get them here as they fly from feeding ground to feeding ground. I love the way they 'talk' to each other to maintain contact.

;D. it's to round up the others?  We get rooks that go off from A - B every Summer evening at 9.00 p.m., having no idea where they end up.  The noise  :o
