Not tolerating oestrogel
« on: August 18, 2025, 06:14:58 PM »

Hello ladies.Im post menopausal and have been on oestrogel 4 pumps and Utrogeston everyday for 5 years plus testogel. My levels around 350 which my body likes.Strangely about 3 months ago I couldn’t tolerate the 4 pumps of oestrogel.Nausea and migraines which I get either when my levels are too high or too low.So gradually I’ve reduced to one pump and I’m ok.But I’ve just had my yearly newson health blood test and my oestrogen levels is 114!
I just don’t understand why my body doesn’t tolerate the 4 pumps anymore, has the formula changed again?Ive tried to increase it again but no my body is having none of it!

I don't know if the formulation of the gel has changed, but generally speaking those with migraines tend to do better with very stable consistent estradiol levels than the rapid swinging up and down that gel produces.

Have you ever tried patches?

It may simply be that your body has become less able to tolerate these fluctuations than it once was.

I did try patches a few years back when I was peri and didn’t get on with them very well
It’s so frustrating because oestrogel has worked for me so well!
You maybe right about my body not tolerating the fluctuations because I do notice now the highs and the lows of the gel during the day.
I did also wonder if this has made a difference but I’ve been taking hyaluronic acid tablets for dry eyes and VA but it also hydrates the skin.I really don’t know

Did you test your levels before you reduced? Is it possible your own production has reduced so you were experiencing low oestrogen symptoms? If you have dry eyes and va perhaps your levels weren't great.
