Hello again…

I’m 51 my last period my last period was July 2024 although I skipped a few in late 2023 and early in 2024, then had them all a bit irregular in March, April and the last one in July. So I think that now classes me as post menopause or is it menopause…?

My GP prescribed the Evri conti patch and I started it Aug 1st, and my main side effect is tingly/stiff hands is this normal?

I had all the blood tests and the recommendation was the patch.

I don’t really I understand can anyone help…do the blood tests determine the dose and type of HRT? I sometimes feel a bit naive about it all.

With regards to other symptoms I didn’t really have many, hot flushes daily, dry eyes not sure if hormone related or my eye condition MGD, dry skin, baggier skin under my arms, I feel a bit slower and perhaps a little tired, bit achy and also very indecisive… I’m hoping to feel a little less tired, hoping it may help my dry eyes and my skin but will have to see.

I’m ok and then I wonder if it’s the right thing to do,

The Change: does what it says on the tin.  Intermittent loss of periods, mine waxed and waned for several years then disappeared. That's when the itching and cold flushes began, didn't last longer than 6. months.

HRT - replacement - to help the body to counteract the loss of hormones as we age.  Some never require HRT, others find it useful.  MayB keeping a mood/food/symptom diary would be of use 2 U?

If it's July this year then don't consider menopause for at least 12 months.  Nature can throw in another curved ball  and periods may become regular for a while. 

Does the Conti patch include progesterone?  It is know that some women in pregnancy suffer Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - pins and needles in the fingers and hands - which relieves after delivery.

Hot flushes, dry eye - as oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry: inside and out.  Deep in the ears, eyes, nostrils, vagina, anus, skin ...... as well as muscles may become lax = aches and pains.  Did the GP do thyroid function and VitD blood tests?
