Weight loss help pleaseeeeeeeeeeee
« on: July 10, 2025, 04:08:18 PM »

Hello ladies, I’m desperate! I’ve been on WeightWatchers for 2 weeks. Period is due (early 50s and no sign of it leaving) but I’ve lost no weight, nothing at all. I’ve walked 10,000 steps a day, been lifting kettle bells and doing sit-ups and my weight is the same! I’m trying to lose two stone to hopefully reduce belly fat and get my periods to finish but it’s a thankless task. I’ve always been very fit (ballet, tap and walking) and all my usual weight loss tricks have stopped working. Has anyone else found the same? Hope you’re all keeping cool in the heat. Thank you so much in advance  :)

Unfortunately during menopause it's so much easier to gain weight and so much harder to lose :(

I read a while back that there's specific exercises you need to do to lose weight during menopause, have a Google and see what you can find.

Exercise alone will not shift weight, it's what we eat!  In fact exercise is likely to build muscle  ::)

Years ago my apron dropped due to the loss of oestrogen. Looking down I appear to be pregnant  >:( but side ways on my profile ain't too bad ;-).

Occasionally I stand on the scales: 8st 1 in the morning, 8st 4 or 5 in the evening so my body is obvisouly working as it ought when I'm asleep.

Hi! I've recently lost just over a stone in about 3 months using a calorie counting app called Nutracheck. I have to admit, calorie counting and staying in a calorie deficit is the only thing that works for me. still got a tummy though...haha

I found that intermittent fasting works best for me. I try to do 16:8, but it works well for me because I just generally feel better when I skip eating in the morning.
That said - it’s been hit and miss because I have times when sugar cravings attack me and then I gain weight around my waist.
Doing research I found it may be due cortisol levels as well as hormones. Just ordered myself some berberine off Amazon which I will carefully try to introduce in my diet.
I try to steer clear off ultra processed foods and eat only whole foods. When it works for me I see benefits quite fast. But then the life happens and convenience takes over. Still trying to work on my mindset, which just reminded me that I have Allen Carr’s book about losing weight, which I may read now. It worked for me with drinking and smoking, so may just as well!!

Good luck to you :)

I have a flabby belly that I haven't been able to shift. On the scales I'm well within normal weight range. I've tried the fasting diet, didn't work. I do toning exercises exercises, don't even eat a lot. It just won't go.
