Stop/Start?
« on: July 02, 2025, 11:21:50 AM »

Hi Ladies  :)

I’m hoping someone can help 🙏🙏

So I finally got myself to the GP, got a referral to the Hormone Clinic 🤩🤩🤩 (PMDD & chronic PMT all my life so we knew this stage of life would be a ride 😨)

Having tried patches & not being suitable, I have some gel & prog tablets as the next option to suck and see while I await an appt with specialist (could be up to a year)

I finally plucked up the courage to apply the gel for the first time last night & this morning it looks like the beginnings of a period 🤦‍♀️ it may just be some shedding & literally only last an hour or could be a full blown period….no rhyme or reason to my periods but I was quite shocked as they are just few & far between & I only had one last week 🤯🤯 should I be worried that this happened following one application of gel?? do I halt the new regime if I’m still showing a period tonight & wait for bleeding to pass before I start up with gel?  Xxx

You should continue with the gel, it's more likely it's just coincidence but in any case it needs time to settle. Are you on sequi or conti? If sequi count today as day 1 and take utro days 15-26. If conti you can expect some bleeding in the first 3-6 months (and very likely as you aren't meno)

Thanks Sheila! Really helpful

Does sequi/conti mean combined? I thought it meant the brand but the brand just says Oestrogel pump 🤷‍♀️ I apply the gel on its own for 14 days then I take a tablet alongside applying the gel for 2 weeks

The terms refer to the type of regimen.  Sequi = sequential, i.e. when you take a progestogen for only part of the time, on a cyclical basis, as you're doing.  Conti = continuous, i.e. taking both oestrogen & a progestogen every day.  :)
