I began to get joint pain for the first time in my life when I stopped the Yasmin combined pill; I assume (though cannot prove) I went through menopause while I was on Yasmin.
I attributed the joint pain to water retention (Yasmin contains a diuretic). The joint pain did improve with exercise and magnesium supplementation but I was always aware of my joints.
I then started Elleste Duet Conti, which didn't help much with anything.
I then switched to Oestrogel (2 pumps) + cyclical Utrogestan and I cannot remember any particular joint pain while I was on it, *unless* I didn't exercise daily. I was still retaining water, albeit a bit less.
I consulted a specialist to see what could be improved. They told me to increase to 3 pumps of Oestrogel and continuous Utrogestan. This put my water retention right back to square one, and made my joints ache like crazy. This seems to confirm my interpretation that it was the water causing the joint pain. I went back to my previous dosage and my symptoms went back to how they were before.
I then dropped the Utrogestan in favour of continuous Slynd, which has the same ingredients as Yasmin. This has solved everything. I definitely don't have any joint pain and I don't have that thing where I'm aware of my joints either.
Now mind you, as I said, I never in my life had joint pain before, so in my case the cause of the joint pain had to be hormonal, therefore it's logical that (the right) hormone treatment would fix it.
