I am struggling with bleeding on the 50 patch and 100mg progesterone past 6 months of changing it. I can't take 2 as I felt terrible on that and I don't want the coil. I am having a scan and if all ok then I will just continue as it's very light. I have struggled the last 8 months with what I thought were UTI's. Each time I got told here wasn't infection but was given antibiotics. There is slight pain in the lower middle of my tummy but it doesn't sting or hurt to go, I just want to go a lot!. My Dr now says I need vaginal estrogen as well as that will help. I was hoping this would be a temporary thing? I really like my Dr but a quick 10 minutes call does not give me a chance to go through other things. Has anyone been to a menopause specialist up in the North West? Thank you

Your GPs are remiss in not realising that you have developed the very common vaginal atrophy, any woman with more than 2 urine infection-type symptoms should be prescribed vagifem, or estriol etc..

This lasts for life so appropriate treatment is necessary.  The idea is to use the product every night for 2-3 weeks then as necessary: many require nightly treatment regardless of what is written in the leaflet in the box and regardless of what many medics continue to believe!  There are good moisturisers too: yes, sylc, a smear of estriol on the outer labial area as well as continued use of VA treatment.  I've found estriol inserted in a plastic applicator which can be washed, has kept my symptoms under control.

When they niggle I swallow 'neurofen' until the nip goes away!  Let us know how you get on with that one.

As for an HRT Clinic: mayB read the websites of your local Hospitals as there are often Clinics attached ......... it is better to see a dedicated clinic as obs/gynaes often don't know much more than GPs seem to do!

Thank you. Yes, she has given me the vaginal estrogen but just said it would help. I have read about different menopause specialists privately but just didn't know which to choose so wondered if anyone has been to any. I'll keep looking.

I just want to see someone and go through things without being rushed and I know Dr's don't have time for that which is why I wanted to go private.

Newson has a clinic in Chester but you can also have a video appointment with them if you prefer. I don't know anyone else but I think many are doing video consultations now. There's also a list of BMS specialists you can see from 'specialists' above.
