So I'm 63yrs old and still on a cyclical utrogestan regime (with an  Evorel 50 patch) which I use vaginally for 12days every 5 weeks and I'm honestly fed up with it, fed up with the bleed, fed up with how tired I am while on it, fed up with keep dribbling urine as I have a bladder prolapse and now I'm diabetic it seems to be raising my blood glucose levels during the 12 days I'm on it.
I've been on this regime for around 10yrs and to be honest I can't even remember why I started HRT, everything seems so long ago . I don't think there are any other bio identical progesterones available nowadays? I'm seriously considering coming off HRT altogether but worried I might regret it as it's been so long that I've used it. I have my review in one month but it's the nurse and if I want to change anything about the HRT I have to schedule an appointment with the GP.
I honestly don't know what to do, anyone with experience of this regime I'd appreciate advice or anyone come off HRT after 10yrs and did any menopausal symptoms return?

I would ask for a referral to a dedicated menopause clinic, there are waiting lists - if an appt arrives U can cancel if necessary.

It mayB that your body has reached a plateau but U won't know unless U stop replacement.  I believe that some regimes cause withdrawal bleeds?

As for the prolapse, have U seen a Consultant regarding treatment?  We all have the right to be dry!

I think Hurditiy is on a similar regime so it might be worth sending her a pm.

I am 68 and I have been using continuous HRT for about twelve years. I had a break from it about five years ago and several symptoms returned including flushing, night sweats, severe vaginal atrophy and more extreme mood swings. After a few months I threw in the towel and resumed HRT ( gel and Utrogestan).
 I have never felt really good on HRT however so a few months ago I decided to try coming off it again. I am  two months in and  noticing some symptoms but so far they are mild. Obviously I am hoping that by the three month mark, they will resolve completely (well a girl can dream lol).

I will update the forum if anything interesting happens as I know other ladies may be in the same boat.

The only way to know if you'll be symptom free without hrt is to try it, some are fine but others find their symptoms return. Cyclogest and lutigest are body identical but only licensed for ivf so you may not get them. I had the same problem with utro so in Jan (aged 64) I had a mirena which has been great, no side effects and no bleeding after 6 weeks. You may find you get on better with one of the oral ones though obviously not body identical.

Hello again ladies.

Following on from Sheila's post, I was prescribed Cyclogest by the private clinic Newson Health. After leaving the clinic and returning to my GP for HRT I saw a  hospital consultant who suggested Lutigest unfortunately my GP surgery refused to prescribe it so I had to have Utrogestan instead.
I have since noticed that some ladies have been given  Cyclogest from their GPs so that may be possible for you.

I'm about to try to come off HRT, too. I think it's worth it every few years to see where the baseline is. After all, one can always go back on. I wonder what positives you, Kathleen, and any othes who have successfully come off HRT have noticed? Since we hear about the negatives a lot. I'm 63 and have been on various HRT regimens for probably around 15 years. Currently 25 mcg patch with 100 Utro and 5mg Provera daily. Yeah, the latter is weird, but it was to stop spotting. Anyway, I would love to hear happy 'coming off HRT' stories. (In my previous attempts, the night sweats are what brought me back to HRT.)
