Other HRT methods like Tibolone?
« on: October 18, 2024, 07:41:26 PM »

Good evening everyone

I had a quick call with my meno dr today (I have an appointment face to face with her on monday).  I asked about trying Tibolone as I am really really struggling with the evorel and utro (also on T).  I just don't feel ok.  Constant anxiety, jittery feeling, weird heart rhythms, unsettled stomach, heavy chest.  This is all the time, not just on the utro part.  I get low mood and rage on the utro but the other symptoms are there all the time.  I'm 49 and still peri (I assume).  Dr said that I can't have Tibolone as I'm not post meno  :'(

Just wondered besides the body identical preparations (I've tried estradot, gel and lenzetto) what other HRT's are others using?  IS there something equivalent to the Tibolone but for perimenopause?  I'm willing to try anything at this point.

Thank you!

Tibolone isn't unsafe in peri, the reason it isn't generally prescribed until after periods have stopped is ..........

You might get a bit of irregular bleeding.

Heaven forbid you might have to carry tampons in your bag!

I would just say they'd stopped. It's not like the gynaecologist can tell.

Or just ask them what terrible thing they think would happen if you took it before your last period?

They are probably just mindlessly following a flow chart without actually thinking about it.

Thank you bombsh3ll, I'm going to try my hardest to convince her to let me try it when I have my appointment on Monday.  Shes a GP but she specialises in menopause.  Honestly at this point I'd take bleeding over the way I'm feeling.  She does know I'm not post meno yet as I've been seeing her for a few years now.

I might even try to obtain it via one of the internet chemists.  I feel like what have I got to lose really!

Thanks for replying xx

JoannFran did you get tibolone?

You posted a long time ago, perhaps you are post meno now?

I can't take oestrogen, I'm not allowed it by my GP because I said I didn't like progestins, immediately she had me down as likely not to comply. I considered buying it online, then went for tibolone instead, I was allowed that. The GP said anyone can have tibolone, it's the safe one they prescribe when other options might be problematic.

Best thing I ever did, I can just forget about menopause on tibolone, it's amazing.
