Hi Ladies,

I've tried the search bar but can't find anything on the Embr Wave 2 bracelet which seems a bit odd. Has anybody tried it? Since stopping HRT I still have horrible flushes which affect my sleep and nothing supplement-wise seems to help. In principle this seems a good idea but it's a LOT of money if it doesn't work. I appreciate everybody is different but was just looking for any advice.

Hi.  Why did U stop HRT?  Which symptom did you want to ease first?

There are a few anti-depressant medications that can relieve flushing.  Don't spend out on 'bracelets' etc. ;-)

I had never heard of this but it apparently uses thermoelectric technology to move heat away from or towards the skin, stimulating temperature-sensitive nerves on the inner wrist.

The Boots reviews are all good so seems to work if temperature is your main concern.

I used to wear the anti nausea wrist bands when I had extreme peri nausea which worked better than meds and ginger (which made me feel more sick! I wonder if it would have helped that too.

An old wives tale for coping with hot flushes is to put ice on your inner wrist. This looks to be a more techy version of that.

I can't comment on the effectiveness from a personal point of view but I remember my late mum cooling her wrists down and it seemed to help.

Honestly I wouldn't waste your money on that bracelet, it is about as scientific as the fanny magnets that were being touted a few years ago.

Most things, even legitimate medical treatments do have a placebo effect, which is not trivial, so if you can afford it without causing significant hardship then it is unlikely to do any harm and if someone feels it is helping them then great.

However there is only one really good treatment for menopause, which is to replace the ovarian hormones, however if there is a medical reason you can't take these, then there are some pharmaceutical treatments aimed at palliating individual symptoms with modest effectiveness, such as fezolinitant for hot flushes. Various antidepressants such as venlafaxine can also be used.

It seems to be something more straightforward and practical than magnetic therapy. You push the button and get a blast of ice cold or heat.

Since a lot of people don't want to go down the HRT/pharmaceutical route for minor or only one menopause symptom, there's nothing wrong with trying alternatives.

You never know, it may work. Even if it's only the placebo effect

My doctor asked me to stop HRT 3 months ago when I started bleeding. After tests and a hysteroscopy everything seems ok and doctor said I could restart.

I originally suffered with bad mood swings, brain fog, night sweats and flushes but after being off the HRT, the only symptom that has returned (so far) is the flushes. Surely if I can manage those naturally I thought that would be better.

While I have been on HRT I have gained a huge amount of weight that simply will not shift. Since stopping I have managed the lose some. That alone is an incentive for me to stay off HRT.
That being said, with the weather being warm I may change my mind as the flushes are horrendous at the moment!

I may give this bracelet a go. I do put ice cubes on my wrists when I have a flush which gives a bit of relief and I believe it works in the same way... We will see!
