Thickened lining treatment
« on: December 08, 2025, 02:48:17 PM »

Hi All

I recently had a biopsy done due to post menopausal bleeding and my womb lining measured 7.6mm. Got my results today in the post and relieved the biopsy showed ‘no worrying changes and excluded cancer’

I think the mirena coil is suggested when womb lining is thickened but I have already had this fitted 2 year in January. I also have two pumps oestrogel on a night time.

Does anyone know what my gp will suggest next as treatment or what I should ask for?

I’m happy my results are clear but concerned my lining is still thick.

Thank you

This isn't anything to be concerned about given you are on estrogen and have had a negative biopsy.

The normative cut off valve for endometrial thickness of 4mm was derived from untreated postmenopausal women.

No suitable cut off value for women on HRT has been agreed upon at this time by relevant professional bodies but different experts have postulated values from 8mm to 11mm.

If you or your GP are worried you can arrange a follow up scan in 6 months or so, with or without a course of oral provera.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I take two pumps of oestrogel on a night.
