Palpitations/ Ectopic beats
« on: May 28, 2025, 11:57:39 AM »

Hi all,
I'm struggling today.
Been having what feel like extra beats (quite big sometimes) for weeks. Had an ecg and a 24 ecg which picked them up but GP happy that all ok.
But I'm struggling, I really don't like them.
I'm about 9 years into Peri and my anxiety is pretty bad at the moment.
Not on HRT, my choice having tried it last year.

I have had them for many years, also was told they are harmless. Mine when they come in a row tend to make me feel like a tickle in my chest that I  have to cough. You have been checked out so I think one has to just resign yourself to the fact that more than half the population has them and they are benign. Theres a group called No More Panic also a forum chat like this one and many many posts and chats about these pesky extra beats or PVCs.

Like Cassie, I have had them for years too but of course they occur with anxiety too,so it's a vicious circle .

Hi

I’m in the same position so I really sympathise. I have had continuous ectopics beats for 4weeks, night and day and living with them is awful. So far no solution but I’m on HRT. Most likely a hormone issue - usually low oestrogen. Have you had your hormone levels checked via a blood test.

I so understand your position, I’m finding it so hard day to day to put up with this. Trying to find a menopause specialist to see - have you done that?

I've had these since I hit puberty. They can be scary, I sympathise! Mine aren't related to anxiety (I have plenty of that too but there's no correlation for me personally!), but they are indirectly affected by hormones. I get particularly low blood pressure in the run up to my period and at other times of hormonal disruption, and my ectopics are caused by the low BP. Paying more attention to hydration, and making sure I don't get too hungry or tired usually helps. I hope you find a way of managing them.
