So many symptoms
« on: May 21, 2025, 02:25:46 PM »

Hi everyone

Im experiencing so many scary symptoms and don’t even know if they are menopause related although I suspect they are.

I’ve been on HRT for several years now, increasing through the various Evorel patch doses and Utrogestan.  However it appears that I don’t seem to have been absorbing from them. I’ve only had one blood test which showed oestradoil levels of 82.

I was on 100 Evorel patch and 200 Utrogestan, but for the last year and a half I’ve had night sweats again. I have weird symptoms in that my legs and arms feel numb and heavy, my hands feel tingly and I’ve been losing hair for years now although that has also ramped up. I also started with digestive issues - gastritis. I started on 2 pumps of gel but then suffered bowel issues.

At the moment I’m back on my patches and have a prescription for Bijuve which I know is only the equivalent to two pumps or a 50 patch.

I’ve been speaking to the doctor about my symptoms and they’ve done various blood tests with nothing showing up except insufficient vitamin D. I keep hounding them as I feel so unwell and don’t want to assume it’s hormones.

Has anybody had any similar symptoms? It’s quite distressing, dull aching, numb, heavy arms and legs, tingling in hands and just feeling rotten.

I guess just looking for some solidarity. I’m trying to push the docs for further tests but I think they are weary of me.

Hormone blood tests are reliably un-reliable particularly for those using HRT.

Which symptom did U want to ease first?  If your hormones are fluctuating they can over ride HRT = i.e. flushes.  R U taking VITD capsules?

My bowels were affected by hormones every month  >:(

Who is overseeing your HRT, mayB ask for a referral to a dedicated menopause clinic.

Vit D is vital for well being, if you buy vit d make sure it comes with K2 ,it helps with absorption to the bones. You may start to feel better once you get your levels up  :)

Hi CLKD and Jaypo,

Thank you for posting back to me

I’m speaking to a private menopause doc, she is suggesting a switch from patches/utrogestan to Bijuve.

I think the blood tests are a good indicator for whether someone who is on HRT is absorbing or not. If on HRT then I guess there’s no way oestradoil should be so low. That’s my understanding anyway.

Yes I’m supplementing Vitamin D.

I think that I was really just hoping to find someone who could relate to my symptoms as I’m on a see saw of thoughts on whether some of them are even related to hormones or not which is scary. I take the point that vitamin d can cause issues, however I thought vitamin d deficiency was more bone ache type symptoms? xx It’s all just a bit too confusing and when you’re feeling rubbish and uncertain of root cause it can feel quite overwhelming and scary.

Sorry you’re feeling so rough Mazzy, horrible time for you. My worst menopause symptom was tingling, mainly my left foot for some reason. It went on for years. Health anxiety and worrying about it only made it worse of course. Hope you get some answers soon but, in the meantime, we’re all here for you.

Hair loss and muscle pain are symptoms of vit d deficiency, so you may see some difference once your levels are up,especially the heavy limbs. When I went for my dexa scan, the specialist said lower back seems to get affected with the deficiency,so maybe you have issues there and in turn is causing the weird feeling in your legs? RLS is also a symptom of meno

Sounds like your hrt needs adjusting.
I started to have my night sweats back and my anxiety started up, so I increased my gel, and it worked.
Some lady’s think they’re hrt has stopped working, but in actual fact it just needs adjusting or switching to another type. Our bodies change and that’s when we get symptoms back.
Hope you feel better soon, it’s horrendous at times, you’re not alone.

Given your levels I think it's a fairly safe bet at least some and perhaps all of your symptoms are oestrogen related. I would get them much higher first and see how you feel then.
