Random bleeding, brain fog, memory loss...
« on: June 13, 2025, 09:42:47 AM »

Hi everyone,

I'm struggling. I've been on HRT for about 5 months now and last month I had a bleed for about 5 days. Before HRT I wasn't having periods at all. Now only 3 weeks later I'm bleeding again and it's stopping and starting. Some days nothing then there'll be another big squint that catches me off guard. I'm also suffering with period pains which I've not had for years. To add to this I'm having memory problems and brain fog and it's starting to affect my work which I'm worried about.

The bizarre thing is sometimes the brain fog is so bad and I'm really confused then I have a bleed and everything clears up. I don't know if the two are linked??

I'm on Oestrogel 2 pumps a day and Utrogestan 100mg daily.

Any advice you can give me will be great.

Thanks,
Sarah

Possibly linked.

I believe that some regimes may cause bleeding until your own hormones catch up.  MayB put the product names into the search box: individually: to read the threads, make notes.

I believe it's linked.  I had that going on last night and my body is prepping for a period in about 5 days.  All those symptoms.  I changed my patch early and it's resolved the symptoms but now thinking there was nothing wrong with the patch I had on, I've probably got lower oestrogen circulating now.  I think it might be that with me.  Hope that will help someway to solving your puzzle.  I will have a blood test and if oestrogen is low I'll report back.

How long were you bleed free for before you went on hrt? Although they consider you meno after a year it's possible to bleed again after this, either once or a return of periods. The other possibility is that it hasn't been controlling the lining properly. Bleeding in the first 3-6 months of a  new conti regime can be expected but if it doesn't stop soon I'd see your gp
