Oestrogel - feeling jittery and anxious
« on: May 19, 2025, 05:03:05 PM »

Hello ladies,

I finally took the plunge and applied 1 pump of Oestrogel this morning. Felt great for first half of the day and then from around. 1pm very anxious, sort of dizzy, jittery and just very charged if that makes sense? My hands are shaking even. I know I need to give it time but I could really do with encouragement.

background story: age 39, started Prog only hrt a few months ago which recently seemed to relax me too much actually making me depressed and numb so thought let's give Oestrogen a good go, it may help. My follicular phase has been more problematic (mental health wise) than luteal even before Progesterone so I was worried about trying Oestrogel anyway. I'm now not sure if my brain is playing tricks on me or if this is the oestrogel?

Would it be better using it in the evenings?

Yes it made me feel jittery at first but settled after a few days. I am now on 4 pumps a day and split it into a moprning and night dose. You could try at night and maybe do half a pump for a couple of days.

Whilst I am not on Oestrogel, I was certainly jittery during my first days of HRT estrogen topical cream.  I had the strangest sensation in my throat, like I needed to scream.  I also lost my appetite.  But it all settled after a week or so and never returned.

Feeling  jittery is usually from too much oestrogen so you can either reduce the dose or stay on it and see if it goes away in a few days. If you're using it only to counteract the effects of progesterone I wonder if it might be better to reduce progesterone and cut out the oestrogen. Perhaps you don't need additional oestrogen just yet?

Many thanks for your reply. For months I was convinced I didn't need the oestrogen yet but then last cycle I felt really depressed and hugely lacked motivation whilst on my cyclogest days hence me thinking maybe it is time to add oestrogen. However, I think I will now give the oestrogen a break and start again when I'm on the cyclogest too. I'm day 5 now, so no cyclogest yet. I usually start on day 12 (usually ovulate around day 11/12).
