Oestrogel and testogel in hand luggage
« on: April 29, 2025, 07:08:14 AM »

Hi,

I am due to fly with easyJet on Thursday, I’d feel happier carrying my medications with me in my hand luggage rather than putting them in my suitcase .

Am I likely to have any problems security please?

You can take prescription meds with you as long as they have your name label on them.

Happy holidays

None. I use them weekly and gels go in hand luggage, I don’t put luggage in hold.  I put them in the liquid bag. Never had an issue.

Thank you, wasn’t sure if I’d need a print out of my prescription 🤔

Medicines should be in hand luggage. I’ve never had a problem taking Oestrogel through in hand luggage .

I take my meds in my hand luggage. Oestrogel just about fits in a small zip lock and also take a copy of my prescription.

I'd take a copy of my prescription slip along with the medicines in a liquid bag, although last time we flew they weren't bothering with liquids bags, told us to keep everything inside our hand luggage through the x-ray machine instead.

I get annoyed that HRT is controlled more tightly than the likes of morphine or pregabalin while simultaneously not being designated as controlled substance. I see that as misogynistic. By law they shouldn't require a prescription slip unless it's a controlled substance. However better safe than sorry. If they confiscate it because they aren't sure, it'll be you crying, not them.

I think it depends on the airport. I have had no problem leaving the UK but they tried to confiscate my oestrogel leaving Egypt, they only changed their minds when I got vocal (they did take the piece of string that I was obviously going to use to murder another passenger... ).
