Continuous period
« on: April 11, 2025, 10:28:12 PM »

Hi,
I have been on combined patches for two months now and Estriol cream too.
Going well I think, except this month I have had two periods. This period happened after four day break not 28 days as ususl. This one currently getting heavier as the week progresses.
Any ideas what might be going on. Bit puzzled about this.

Could just be your body adjusting to the new hormones. I’ve been told that any introduction of HRT or change in HRT can cause symptoms such as bleeding for the first six months. I have recently been started on Vagifem and I’m having twice weekly spotting at the moment.

Are you using cyclical or continuous patches?

If you are still having periods yourself and using cyclical hormone therapy, it is likely that your own periods and the artificial withdrawal bleed from the hormone therapy are out of sync.

Getting them to overlap can be very challenging and often results in chaotic bleed patterns with more days spent bleeding overall than untreated women.

You might be better looking into bleed free options.

Thanks for the responses.  Really helpful.

Sorry for two threads CLKD. I had deleted first on Post Menopause forum because I had posted message in wrong place.
