Bleeding after 7 months
« on: March 17, 2025, 12:43:10 PM »

Hi, I'm newish here and wanted to vent my anger about my body.  :'( So I haven't had a period for 7 months and this morning my body decided to throw out another one. I am so bloody angry today. I've had all the hot flushes, aches and pains, mood swings etc. over the last 7 months and have dealt with them all withoit HRT. I was feeling quite proud until this morning.  :'( Is this normal to have bleeding after 7 months without? I'm 53. Please someone stop me from losing my mind over this!  :'(

Yes it is normal to almost get to the twelve months without a period mark and then have a period and have to start counting again. I got to nine months twice. Very frustrating! Also I found my hot flushes almost disappeared both times before the nine months period leading me to believe it was all done and dusted. Doubly disappointing to have to start again. Hopefully this will be your last one

Thanks Taz. I really appreciate your response. I've been an emotional mess today, hate everyone and everything around me. I really thought that was it for me. How naive could I have been.  :'(

Yes unfortunately it’s quite normal. I think I went 11 months once and had to start counting again  :'(

Thanks Dotty. It's good to hear that it's normal at least. <3

Hi Taz. Thank you so much for asking. I feel a bit more human today. I just sat in my bedroom last night and cried my eyes out for most of the evening, which seems extreme but that's how much it affected me. I still feel quite low today but just trying to pick myself up and dust myself off. I suffered from such horrible periods, to the point they were becoming unmanageable. I also ended up on iron tablets for the last few years due to the amount of blood I was losing. I've started taking them again today because this period has been awful again. I certainly won't completely relax now thinking they have gone for good. It's just so draining at this stage of life. I've just had enough.  ::)

This might be your last one so fingers crossed for that. If not would you consider the merina coil which is very good at controlling bleeding? I got fed up with the unpredictable bleeding and hot sweats and at 53 I gave HRT a go which did sort things for me. I was lucky in that the first one I tried worked well. I know you would like to get through without using HRT. There is an Alternative Remedies thread (or similar title) somewhere on here which might be helpful. You will find support and advice on here so any other questions then just ask away

I tried the Mirena coil a few years ago to no avail. The progesterone made me feel so low and I spot bled from the day I had it put in until 6 months later when I asked to have it removed. If my symptoms got that bad I would consider HRT with the right clinic. I've been reading alot of threads in here today, its so interesting to read other women's stories. I just feel so alone sometimes, even though I have a husband (uselss with emotional stuff) and 3 grown up daughters. Thanks for making me feel so welcome. I will be hanging around, that's for sure!  :)
