When HRT does not work
« on: March 06, 2025, 12:49:10 PM »

Hello all,

I am 52 ( nearing 53, no period for 4 consecutive months and counting) 2 pumps Besins Oestrogel and 100mg Utrogestan each day.

Two recent blood tests reveal Oestradiol of under 70 - my lovely and super helpful GP has suggested it is not working at all, I am super symptomatic; low mood, anxiety mostly but also hot flushes and night heat as opposed to sweats.

My question to you lovely bunch is twofold - Should I come off it, given it is not working?  - any views on this really appreciated and secondly my GP has offered Lenzetto as an alternative, as patches don't work for me either. Again any views, experience of this would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Of course it isn't working if such a low amount is getting into your system.

2 pumps is quite a low dose so you have scope to increase this if you are really wedded to transdermal estrogen.

Lenzetto tends to be quite weak but some like it and it depends on your individual capacity for absorption.

Why not try oral estrogen? This is by far the easiest and most reliable mode of delivery and the real world difference in thrombotic risk is so small as to not be clinically significant for healthy users.
