Patch size
« on: March 02, 2025, 04:30:53 PM »

I use estradot 100 but they're out of stock and I need an alternative. I can't use evorel as I have an allergic reaction to it. Currently have Estraderm but they're enormous, I don't have an arse like a hippo so there's no patch of skin that big that doesn't move. According to the treatments tab the other alternatives are femseven or progynova. Does anyone know how they compare in size and stickability? Both are once a week I stead of twice, are they still effective by day 7?

If anyone kept a patch on for anywhere near 7 days, the first thing I would do is check for a pulse, because there's just no way that a warm, living, moving, sweating body that gets washed at appropriate intervals could reasonably be expected to achieve that.

Firstly what is your dose? Can you get two smaller patches of the brand that suits you, or use half of a larger one?

Even if you can only get estraderm, wearing two smaller dose patches or cutting what you have in half and using two sites might work.

Make sure you are cleaning the skin with rubbing alcohol prior to applying to strip out the oils and improve adhesion, and try applying hypafix over the top.

Someone else on here mentioned using tattoo film over the top worked for them.

Also if you have someone to assist you, the shoulder blade can be a reasonable site.

The advice to place below the waist comes from fear of breast cancer but no actual evidence, and given it is absorbed systemically anyway, it doesn't really make scientific sense.

This might be a short term option even if you aren't comfortable with upper body long term.

I know someone who has been wearing them on her arms for many years as that's the only place that works.

I’m having patch non absorption issues and just stuck another patch on. Still feeling rubbish. I’m on Estradot too so no doubt that’s goodbye to those. As well as tattoo film I saw a recommendation for Tegaderm film. I’m going to be trying to stick them on better with tape as well as following the other advice that’s been given. I also read Davina M uses Estradot as well as oestrogen gel so maybe a combination might be another possibility.

sheila, have you tried asking for multiple 25s of Estradot instead?

I'm on Estradot 100 x 2 and I asked to get the same dose in 25s from my GP, so I now have 8x 25 patches - which is a bit ridiculous, but they are tiny....

25s are in stock, although 50s are out.
