Nausea and feeling meh
« on: February 20, 2025, 06:28:37 PM »

Hello!

I have just changed over from the combined pill to a combination of Gepretix progesterone tablet (100mg) and Oestrogel gel (2-4 pumps/day).

I had to come off my pill (which I have been on all my adult life for hormone reasons) because I turned 50.

It has been just over a week since the swap and I feel absolutely dreadful!

I thought I had a virus at first but now I’m not so sure and wonder if it is the HRT.  I started feeling a bit queasy and with really odd stomach cramps. Then I felt fine for a day. But then the nausea came back and has not gone away (if anything, it is getting worse). I have also lost my appetite and am really struggling to eat. And I’m feeling generally meh (but that could be because I’m not eating enough!)

Does this sound familiar to anyone else. Should I persevere in the hope that things will settle. If so, for how long should I put up with this before deciding it’s not going to go away?

I thought I’d be fine with the transition because I was already taking both progesterone and oestrogen with my pill so I’m quite shocked at how dreadful I feel.

Thanks in advance for any help.

:welcomemm:  was there a reason to stop the combined Pill?  Was it suiting you overall?

Hopefully some1 will be along with advice.

Hello SportyBird101 and welcome to the forum.

I haven't had your combined pill or HRT experience so hopefully someone will be along who can advise you.

I did however have some diarrhea and vomiting two days ago followed by a day of feeling weak with no appetite. I initially put it down to something I'd eaten but now I think it was a virus, possibly the Norovirus that is swamping the hospitals.

In my case a recent visit from my gorgeous grandson and his three year old cousin could also have been a factor ( young children can be germ factories after all lol).

Perhaps see if you recover over the next few days and if not consider the hormonal side of things and contact your surgery.

I hope this was helpful and I wish you well.

K.

Yes it is apparently deemed unsafe / high risk once you reach 50.

Thank you K. I did initially think it might be a virus but the longer it has gone on, the less convinced I have become. It’s definitely not Norovirus as I’ve had experience of that particular hell in the past 🙈🤣

I hope you are now feeling better.
