Hi Lisa,

Is it the insides of your ears? I get this sometimes.

Probably shouldn’t advise this but I use cotton buds to scratch the itch, which helps in the short term. I haven’t had it as bad since starting HRT so hormones must have helped but it was annoying!

Yeah it could well be it’s too low. Your body will get used to the current level after a certain amount of time and you will need more of a dosage to feel the benefits. I currently have the bad itching under arms and on my groin it’s awful 😞

Hi LittleClaire
Yes I get this too in my case is a psoriasis (only developed that at menopause so deffo oestrogen related) flare up, initially tried to fix it with different creams from the chemist and nothing worked.  I gave up and went to the doctor who prescribed "Otomize" spray which works a treat.
Hope that helps

I've had itchiness and irritation and occasional infections in my ear canals as a result of everything 'drying out' with the menopause.

Ear Calm is available over-the-counter and I find that can help.

I did end up with an ENT referral a few months ago because of recurrent ear canal issues (irritation, itchiness and infections) and the consultant prescribed Betacap (off licence as it is normally used for the scalp).

Having said that the itchiness has improved vastly with only the very occasional need for the use of Ear Calm or Betacap, simply by taking the other piece of medical advice that I was given which was to keep water out of the ear canal at all times.  Not difficult for me as I don't go swimming anyway and have short hair which doesn't need washing that often.  It really has been a game-changer

Maybe seek some medical advice if it is really troublesome and doesn't settle.

Finally, I have always been advised by medical professionals not to insert ANYTHING (such as cotton  buds, hair grips etc.) into the ear canals.

Sorry for such a long answer, hope your situation improves.

As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry: inside and out; deep in the ears, nostrils, vagina .... skin, between the toes, scalp.

We use Nivea around the ears/lobes and drops when necessary.  We call it 'spaniel ear' when we can't reach that itch  >:(
