Weird Headaches
« on: February 12, 2025, 10:35:22 AM »

Hi Everyone

Its been a long time since I posted, but I often read everyone's posts.

I am getting weird headaches/soreness/pressure nearly every day, albeit it seems to come and go. I often wake up with it, but it isn't throbbing. I have been diagnosed with perimenopause migraines. I do get Occular Migraines, and my mum got migraines through peri and meno weekly. But it isn't like a Migraine my mum had. It feels like I want to rub my scalp and it my head feels sore. It's freaking me out tbh, I have self diagnosed everything terrible.
I am on my own as my husband died suddenly 14 months ago and I am totally broken, feeling very vulnerable.
I have been prescribed Pizotifen, which I used in my 20's for headaches and it worked then, but haven't started it yet as the side effects are appetite stimulation.
Just hoping to hear from other ladies who have experienced anything similar.
I am on 2.5 pumps of Oestrogel and vaginal Progesterone 12 days a month. I am 51 and still have a regular withdrawel bleed. Meno specialist has suggested patches to help with fluctuations.

thanks in advance

Hi Vicky,

I'm sorry to hear about your husband, that must have been an awful shock and very dfficult for you. Don't underestimate the power that grief has on the body especially during the menopause years when there is so many changes going on.

I can't say I have had anything that exactly  fits your symptoms however I do have wierd sensations in my scalp from time to time which are quite scary. I did get them checked out and nothing diagnosed so I put them down to a combination of fluctuating hormones, stress and fatigue. I tend to clench my teeth at night (at times) so maybe worth seeing a dentist to get that checked out as it could be tension.

HA is a terrible thing and seems to escalate during the menopause which makes every little thing seem worse. I found meditation helps. I have an app on my phone called Headspace. It takes a little perseverence to get into, but is my goto if I feel my head running away with itself.
