Tibilone and stomach pain
« on: November 23, 2024, 10:33:23 AM »

So I just want others opinion on taking Tibilone.

I’m post menopausal and usual HRT preparations just make me feel unwell.

As a last resort I spoke to my GP about Tibolone and he said let’s give it a go as I may tolerate it better.

I lasted 6 days!. First 3 days were fine but then I developed horrible stomach pains so had to stop.

I just wondered if others had experienced this and did it eventually go away? How long did it last?

I’m so fed up with it all

Hi, I know it’s a couple of months on since your post, I just joined today.  I took Tibolone for the first time last week, as I couldn’t tolerate progesterone in any variety, and within 30 mins I had severe diarrhoea which lasted 4 hours.  After that, I just felt a bit weird, and the next day, I didn’t take any more but felt amazing!! Best I’ve felt in like 30 years!  However, have been too scared to take another tablet, as I felt I may have been having some sort of allergic reaction.  So doesn’t really answer your questions, but it did definitely have a bad effect on my stomach and digestive system.  Oh and I will mention I did only have half a tablet, at that.  Did you get any answers anywhere? Did you decide to give it another try? It can be so hard to know what to do, but we know we need to “something”!

Did they change the formulation of tibolone or something?

I had stomach issues starting tibolone in 2023 but not starting it in 2022.

In 2022 I had no side effects at all from tibolone and normally I'm over sensitive to prescribed medicines.

I was motivated by a fear of the suicide inducing progestins and severe sweats day and night.

Eventually tibolone started working again for me after the break and I won't agree to any more breaks because that messed me up for about a year in total.

If I hadn't had it in 2022 and knew how good it can be, I might have given up too soon.

Now I'm very settled on it over a year, no night sweats, no hot flashes, no low mood, sex life is good, I feel the same each day.

My stomach troubles were investigated but no cause found, now they are gone, I've no side effects at all.

I found fybogel very soothing on the whole digestive tract, the doctor suggested it to me.

Hi

I'm on day 3 of taking Tibolone.  No issues first 2 days but I've had bad stomach cramps for a few hours today, hope it doesn't continue.  I'm going to try to stick with it for at least a couple of weeks and hope the cramps don't get any worse (I can just about cope with them).

HOw have you felt since stopping? x
