Have a look at the packet,  in the UK it would say how ethically sourced various plants are, i.e. palm oil.

It’s a yam plant…definitely the answer I get when I google “what is Tibolone made from”.  Just googled it again now. The first definition I get is “Tibolone is a synthetic steroid hormone derived from the Mexican yam plant”.  So yes, but somehow derived from the yam plant.

Which I thought was odd, and was surprised to learn this. The Australian Menopause Society also has this written on their Tibolone fact sheet.

'derived from' - i.e. it's a chemical synthesised from the yam plant.  Scientists work out what the active ingredients of plants might be, same with willow which produces aspirin.  There is no way that enough plants could be grown world wide to cover all medical requirements.

Think of palm oil: the millions of acres of clearance which destroys the environment and makes urang-utans homeless  :'(.  Yam I believe is used by those living in Jungles where it grows naturally ..........

I do prefer yam/sweet potato on my plate as mash though  ;)

Hi Tez

I’m
On day 4 of Livial today and have had really bad stomach cramps and diarrhoea. Just had cramps yesterday for about 4 hours but today also upset stomach. It’s really really painful! I think that’s me done with that. Can’t have this everyday for weeks. All I can do is curl up in a ball.
How you feeling now? X

Hi JoannFran, oh what a shame, I’m sorry to hear that.  I’m still not ready to try again, after my first day experience.  I know I definitely do want to, just in the hope that it goes ok, but not ready yet. Feel like it was also giving me fleeting moments of anxiety that I don’t normally have…and I’m just having a break from everything now.  Unfortunately my energy levels, and motivation are down down down, with no hrt at all (I used Estrogel for 3 months). So 2 weeks of nothing it’s been for me now. Feel very blah, but at least I’m not having any actual medical episodes now lol.  I can tell just looking in the mirror, how much life energy I’ve lost.

I have a couple of trips in March I need to do interstate, so I might see if I can slug it out until after that, and try the Livial again in April.  Thanks for your feedback, it’s very helpful.  Everybody’s feedback is indicating to me, that what I experienced is probably “just” a side effect, and that I wasn’t having any kind of specific allergic reaction.  Livial seems to suit so many people, and I was hoping I would be one of them. Time will tell I suppose, but I’m not confident, unfortunately.  I’ll update everyone when I try again. The amount of amazing I felt the following day after the Livial (it was obviously still in my system, and I’m thinking it may have been the testosterone part working primarily at that time), is why I am willing to try again.  I really did feel fantastic, the day after.

CLKD, what is the yellow card scheme?

I might try to find out how much lactose is in the tablets. I’ve never had a problem with lactose, having said that, I use coconut milk and rarely anything milk or dairy based, if so it’s just a little.  My google search has giving me answers from a couple of mg, all the way up to 98 mg of lactose.  I’m sure there would not be that much in there. If so, that’s an awful lot, I would think.

Tez - google 'yellow card scheme' as not many Surgeries hold the cards and few members of the public are aware of the Scheme.

May I ask how you're doing now? Did you feel this awful before the beta blocker? Has the withdrawals from the beta blocker subsided?
