Bleeding post menopause and using oestrogen and Merena coil
« on: February 18, 2025, 06:24:55 PM »

Hi everyone.

I was given the Merena coil instead of ultrageston tablets last August as part of my hrt due to occasional bleeding, ongoing on and off for a year or two. I expected to have odd occasions of spotting on the fort few months, but now over 6 months later, I am still getting spotting and occasional ig gloopy brown/pink clots.
Is this normal for anyone else? The Merena coil was meant to stop any bleeding as I am post menopause!

When I had my Mirena fitted, a couple of years ago,  I was told spotting up to 12 weeks was considered normal and that if it continued after that they would check it out. Mine stopped just at 12 weeks!

I think its worth speaking with your GP and getting things checked, just to be on safe side.

I think you should see your gp to get it checked out.
