My Bladder
« on: January 01, 2025, 09:05:40 AM »

Morning ladies, happy new year to you all? Just wondering if anyone has similiar issues with a feeling of bladder irritation. After I have had a wee, it often feels like I want to go again but theres no need to. Feels a bit irritated. I dont have a UTI. Had a scan recently all was fine apart from a benign ovarian cyst but not sure if that is whats causing the feeling of the urge to want to wee, when I have just been? Any ideas? Is this part of the meno journey?

It may well be vaginal atrophy  for which there is appropriate treatment.  Do read the various threads on the topic ; make notes.

As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry: inside and out; including the vulval area.

Hello Cassie, happy new year. The symptoms you describe do seem to accompany menopause. The symptoms you describe started for me at 38. Mine was caused by vaginal atrophy and adding testosterone to my regime, plus VA treatment means my bladder is improved but still niggly.
If you see your GP to check for atrophy or GSM as its now called, the guidelines say that whilst atrophy isn't always visible when examined internally,  it can still be present. Mine was dismissed for years because apparently there were no visible signs in spite of having all the symptoms. Hope that helps.

I meant to add that despite medical lack of knowledge, VA treatment can be used every night when necessary.

This document will give you all the information you need if you do have symptoms of vaginal atrophy (GSM)
Medics, including pharmacists are not clued up on this condition and best to inform yourself before seeking any help.
