Lower back pain
« on: December 25, 2024, 04:03:54 PM »

I'm 52 and still in perimenopause, I've now been on HRT for 9 months and been on different regimes, having started on continuous then moving on to cyclical after 4 months. One thing I noticed not long after switching to the cyclical was I began having lower back pain on the right side.

At first I thought it must be something else, but after reviewing carefully I can't see anything I've changed that could contribute to this.

It's a pain that appeared suddenly and has become more frequent as months have gone by. I notice it during the day just moving around, and for the past couple of months at night as well when laying down, especially if I lay down on the right side, and then when I have to turn from one side to the other it's quite painful. I have a very nice memory foam mattress I bought  almost 2 years ago that always felt very comfy and supportive of my back, so I really don't think this could be the reason.

I'm starting to suspect it's a side effect of the HRT, and I've been searching here on the forum but have not really found any other posts talking about this, however when I search on google I do find women linking their new lower back pain to starting HRT.

If this is a side effect that happens to some women on HRT, I wonder what causes the pain, is it the estradiol or is it the progesterone, or maybe is it both and the dosage is not the right one yet? Anybody else having this issue?
Thanks

I just realised somehow I managed to not search the forum correctly, and I've now found a few others asking about this... so I'm going to get reading now!

Still I welcome opinions and experiences, thank you
