Tinnitus - help or advice anyone ??
« on: December 20, 2024, 12:06:46 PM »

hello all, im 52 peri-meno.  Started with tinnitus in June this year.  Weird static sound mainly in one ear with a kettle bell kind of ring alongside it (hard to explain the sound).  Drove me mad and couldn't sleep with it for weeks and my anxiety went through the roof. Also get a fullness in both ears, sometimes pain and itching.  Had MRI all fine, hearing test all fine.  Nothing major to report.  Sleep now better but I do take a small dose of Melatonin if i need to.

Went on HRT in July (i am now on 4 pumps of gel and 100mg progesterone at night).  I am a poor absorber so had to gradually increase.  I never get my E levels over 200 even on 4 pumps.  Tried the patch and it gave me huge anxiety.

Anyone else have tinnitus and do you hear it all the time?  How do you cope?  Have you eventually got used to it??  Some days are better than others but today it's getting me down again.   :-(  anyone in the same boat xxx

Hi Mantwab,

Do you listen to "white noise" at night? My husband has tinnitus and I have had it a few times but not as bad as him. We find playing sea or rain sounds quietly on Alexa or on our meditation app at night helps a lot. It also helps drown out the alarming windy weather that we have had recently. Worth a try. X

It is annoying and when I get it I try to distance my self from it by saying it's going to pass and it's just another symptom and not going to cause harm. I find mindfulness helps because it takes your focus off everything and reduces anxiety. A doctor recommended acupuncture but that sounds a bit ouch!
