Is this normal?
« on: December 04, 2024, 04:39:00 PM »

Hi ladies
Just looking for some words of encouragement please 🙏
I use 0.01 estriol cream nightly + have for a few years. I also suffer from a inflamed bladder unfortunately (who would be a woman !!!)
I was away for a few nights but had to come back early as not feeling well. I had a bladder flare yesterday (due to the cold weather I think ) stupidly I didn't use the cream last night as thought I would be up + down at the toilet all night but feel awful today with the atrophy (itchy/sore) I didn't think it could be as bad just missing one night ?? I drink loads anyway as it helps my bladder but my hubby pointed out I had a few baths when I was away (don't have one at home now so see it as a treat) so probably wouldn't have helped the atrophy/dryness ? I don't use any bubble bath or anything just dermol. I'm hoping that if I get the cream in tonight +get a sleep things feel better tomorrow 🤞I took some nurofen a couple of times today but not sure if that will help or not ? Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated Xx

This is exactly how the condition behaves, you change routine and flare ups easily happen. Constant use of oestrogen cream both night and morning until you feel better. Its what I would do in your situation.

Get some treatment up there now and again this evening and every night for 2- 3 weeks.  Do U put bicarb of soda in water to drink at all?  I never fancy it but apparently it's supposed to help  :-\.  Have a lookC at the top of the forum 'treatments'.

I find that two Nurofen 3 times a day eases that nip as the urine flow shuts off.

Thanks for your reply. I struggle using the cream during the day as it's the big applicator 🙈 Been lying with a hot water bottle since I got home but just want the feeling to go away + get to my bed tonight + let the cream do it's magic 🙏🤞

My applicator isn't big .......... whether 'this is normal' well yes, VA can suddenly erupt .  Which is why regular applications should keep symptoms away.  Surely putting a dose up there now is better than waiting, mayB use your finger?

Thank you CLKD, I actually remembered you mentioned before about the nurofen. I usually use cream every night anyway but just annoyed suffering after just missing it for one night 😥

I'm just getting over a bad flare up and the painkillers that gave me some relief was one co-codamol and one paracetamol, if you find ibuprofen is not working well for you.

I use Vagifem and Estriol cream, the latter I smear over all of the outside, no need for the applicator, finger application is just as good.
