Hysteroscopy after scan which looked good?
« on: December 03, 2024, 04:14:10 PM »

Hey ladies, me again. So I had my urgent scan last Tuesday and was so relieved when the radiographer told me she couldn’t see anything worrying. I have two tiny little fibroids and my uterine thickness is 4 mm so she seemed confident I was feeling great until I got a call just now from the hospital to book me in for a hysteroscopy next Tuesday! So of course my anxiety through the roof and I am assuming the consultant has seen something worrying on the scan. Is it normal practice to have further investigations after a seemingly normal ultrasound? I had a Pipelle biopsy in 2022, which they lost, and I remember it being very painful so not in the best frame of mind at the moment. Thanks for any support ladies.

This mayB a double appt.!  Ring in the morning and tell them what U have posted here.  One should never assume and the person ringing with your appt. should have explained why.  U can insist on pain relief if not, refuse the examination.  This is your body.

Thanks for replying - I did mention the scan, she said she had just been asked to book the hysteroscopy appointment and hadn’t seen the results herself - she added that she wishes the people doing scans didn’t say anything and that they weren’t supposed to!

It would be better if patients were asked to sit and wait until a Consultant has looked at scans!  As they would when X-rays are taken.

Agreed - anything to stop the worry. I’m hoping the scan lady was right and it’s just a case of them double checking - it was great to be free of worry for a few days, the bloody discharge has stopped and not recurred and then the scan seemed good so I felt great. What we women have to put up with is awful!

Hi EllieJ,  from my experience I had the scans first and the hysteroscopy several weeks later. I did opt to have it done under a general anaesthetic so had to wait longer but it was worth it. This is an option for you if you feel it's something you want....I didn't know it was an option until the lovely ladies on here told me. I'd had one several years ago without GA and found it extremely painful so I understand what you mean about the pain and anxiety. Please don't worry....I know it's a lot easier said than done, believe me I've been there.
Let us know how you go x
