Hair/Hair Loss/Minoxidil
« on: November 20, 2024, 01:42:37 PM »

Hello
I know there are a few threads on this, so sorry if doubling up.
If not on HRT, looking into what could help hair growth/thickness. Get impression Nioxin could make it look better but won't necessarily do anything?
Minoxodil seems like it could help? Unsure whether dermatologist/trichologist/GP most likely to prescribe? Was thinking trichologist but unsure. And is it better to get levels of B12/folate checked first?

I'd check my vitamin levels for starters. Also ferritin and iron levels.

I get hair loss if my vitamin levels and ferritin drops.

In the meantime, OGX biotin and collagen shampoo and conditioner will make your hair look and feel thicker and fuller. Not to mention making you feel better about it  :)

My son uses minoxidil, the tablets. He previously tried the topical solution which was messy and a faff.

I'm not sure it makes hair grow back that has already been lost but it seems to be preventing further loss, and he feels it is worth it for him.

GPs will not prescribe, it isn't funded by NHS, but can be bought online including the prescription from a number of UK sites. No need to waste money on expensive dermatology consultations if you want to try it.

Vitamin levels checked for sure.
My daughter swears by sage oil,bit whiffy but it has really worked for her, although her hair loss is down to her having an IBD but if you want to stay away from the chemical route,it's worth trying  :)

I've not heard of sage oil for hair loss jaypo. Interesting.  :)

Just googled it. It seems to help with a myriad of things.
