VA flare up
« on: November 20, 2024, 11:36:29 AM »

Hi all,
I have seen some of you mentioning that you use Ovestin or Vagifem more than once a day when things get uncomfortable. How often are we talking? Had a crappy afternoon today going back and forth to pee. Ugh!

R U using VA treatment every night, sometimes the vagina needs a reload to plump up the walls.  When I get the need to pee I pop 'ovestin/estriol' up mid-afternoon and swallow 2 Nurofen which eases the nip as the urine flow stops.  Repeat at night; 5 continuous nights helps me, others may require longer.

MayB put a treatment up this afternoon and again this evening . Let us know how you get on.

With my recent flare up which lasted just over a week I used two Vagifem for two days but mainly used the Estriol cream smeared on the outside three times a day until symptoms improved.
The painkiller that worked for me was one co-codamol and one paracetamol, it calmed things down really well as I was in a lot of pain.

Hello Garnet,  I use estradiol daily and ovestin twice daily but if I had a flare up I'd use it 3 times a day. I also apply a smear of coconut oil after each time I pee just to keep everything moisturised.
I've been doing this regime for over 8 months, I think, now, and for the first time in years I'm not 'aware' of all my lady bits, if you get what I mean.  So everything feels normal. I'd definitely up your dose of everything down there.

Thanks, the Ovestin once at night before bed is usually enough but these last couple of days, I’ve needed to pee SO MUCH! Mind you, there is plenty there when I go.
I used some Ovestin on the outside in the morning too yesterday and a couple of paracetamol to settle the ache - which felt like period pain. Fortunately only getting up to pee twice per night at most which is a blessing.
I know it’s temporary but so annoying!
