Heavy Yeast Growths again
« on: November 08, 2024, 02:16:19 PM »

I have had a really good few months after last years 7 months of thrush and on the treatments of Fluconazole and Canisten which my strain of thrush was resistant too. Had an appointment with a lovely male doctor three weeks ago he performed an internal and said he could see some white discharge which could be thrush. Anyway, it would appear I have got heavy yeast again. Last time I cleared it up with three weeks Boric acid pessaries. I have used a fortnights boric acid pessaries but the swab has come back still got heavy yeast. Can't speak to a doctor until Monday, so a weekend of worrying. I know it isn't life threatening, but it is a real pain. Would you think it a good idea to continue with the boric pessaries until Monday, or wait and see what the Doctor advises?  Another doctor said to stop using the estriol cream as this could have caused the thrush so am now only using the vagifem. I know vagifem can cause thrush too. Not sure what to do. I am wondering if I haven't inserted the boric pessary high enough, not easy when they don't come with an applicator. Your replies are appreciated.

Continue with the Boric acid if that treatment worked previously.  There has to be an underlying cause: thrush thrives on sugars.  I can't remember whether you mentioned if U R diabetic .

I haven’t got any advice….but I’m in the same position . I stopped using Blissel but have now gone onto Estriol cream as the soreness is awful. I’m on 6 months of Fluconazole.

Thank you for responding CKLD, I do not have Diabetes. I really think it is the estriol cream that has set the thrush off again. Maybe the vagifem to.

Dotty the female Doctor prescribed a six month fluconazole tablets last year but my strain of Glabrata was resistant to that treatment. Sorry you are also suffering. Thank you for responding.

MayB report the possibilities on the Yellow Card system?

Although KY Jelly won't replace oestrogen I find it helps in between VA treatments keeping the skin less itchy.

I may have banged on about LIVE yoghurt which has really helped thrush symptoms for me: eaten often and applied twice a day ;-)
