Hi Gals,

I hope you all had a good weekend.

So I had my private scan, and went with the £145 well-woman pelvic scan. On arriving we couldn't find the damn clinic for ages as well secluded and I was busting for the loo having had the pint of water the e email informed me to do for ultrasound over tummy womb scan. Anyway that didn't happen, she made no attempt to do the US, reception said straight away..."no we prefer to do only TV. so go pee" .....idiots!

So to back up, I didn't have any reason to get the scan, no unscheduled bleeding, etc. I just thought it was time, as I realised it had been four years since my first one.

Results found a 14mm submucosal focal fibroid encroaching/near endo and endo was 7.9mm 10 days into my cycle(my bad, I should have timed that better)

Has anyone else had a similar result? How worried should I be?
Looking online the fibroid doesn't seem a big deal.

I'm going to dial down my estrogen as it's been creeping up, I'm already taking 14 days 200mg utro vaginally so not sure whether to increase that?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I will of course be going to my GP with the results and hopefully get a gynae appmnt.

No not really, just to see my GP.
The sonographer didn't have the best bedside manner tbh.

She didn't even flag or actually tell me that the endo was 7.9mm until I asked, and she had no comment on that either, silly moo, haha!
Blood out of a stone comes to mind.

Surely a sonographer is there to carry out their highly skilled job and the rest left for the GP or Consultant to tell you what was the outcome of the scan.
Or have things changed in recent years.

Surely you mean a sonographer who is doing what they've been trained to do.
Interpretation of scans is a whole other discipline.

As it was a private scan there wasn't a scheduled consultation with GP after.

I guess it was her lack of comms. She is supposed to tell me the result of the findings which is what I paid for, but not a diagnosis, she isn't a doctor

Also, she literally shoved the probe in, no light touch or comment like....here it comes. There really is no other word to describe it better than shoved, I was like....ok...easy tiger, lol!

I was there to get endo checked which clinic knew and she didn't comment for ages on it, until finally I asked and I said....what was thickness? And I said....so it's thickened then?
I knew that it was but she didn't bcz she then went...oh oh yes I suppose it is.

I have the written report where she actually just wrote out exactly what I had said and word for word as though it was written by me lol, may as well have been. Listen I'm not really moaning about the service, I got some results and that's the bare minimum that I needed haha!

You should have at least been treated with a bit more civility and even more so as you were paying for the service.
I would complain, I hate this kind of behaviour and have to say we as a family have nothing but the best treatment via the NHS from all its services.

It is what it is, all in all I achieved the goal so I'm happy enough tbh.

That's good. Yes, if ultimately is 'just a scan'. I guess you now need to do something with the results, via GP I guess.

When i had mine I was asked to do so by the Marion Gluck clinic, then sent them the results.

My sonographer had been quite pleasant though. I ended up getting her for a bladder scan on the NHS about 6 months later.

When you pay for private scans they do tend to tell you what has been found and give you a report to take to your GP or specialist. I realise that it isn't the same on the NHS but paying for a scan you'd absolutely expect to be given basic info like lining thickness.

I've been for a number of these scans privately and lining measurement is absolutely within their scope to tell you as technicians. Do you feel comfortable taking the report to your gp or do you have a specialist you could go to? Doesn't sound like you got great service for the money tbh.

Hia, yes I will go to GP with my results, the clinic asked if I wanted them to email them to GP and I agreed they need to see them. However, they didn't take the GP's email address so they have contacted me to supply it.
